You’ve had a career any up and comer would have to be a machine to top. How do you continue to produce and mold yourself into the flow of progression?
I guess it comes down to the love of it. I love snowboarding and progressing each year, weather its learning new tricks, finding new zones or riding harder lines. I also have super supportive sponsors and friends to ride with that help keep me motivated.
How many video parts have you made and which one was the most memorable?
11 with some montage sections thrown in. For me, filming for Grenade’s “The Boned Age” was a great time. I got to ride with Benji Ritchie up in Whistler a bit and hit some real cool stuff. The year was pretty smooth as well, no injuries and I wasn’t stressing at any point.
You’ve always gone big and you’ve always done it with style. Do you ever wish you would have got into rail riding or has it always been about sending it?
Not at all. I do wish I would’ve gone on a rail trip or two years ago, when front boards were legit but for me the mountains are what make snowboarding different and exciting. I grew up on the beach surfing and skating so when I got to snowboard down a real mountain it blew me away, and still does. It’s cool watching rail parts nowadays though just to see how creative everyone is getting.
A lot of your exposure has been through Mammoth, is this why you say there?
I stay in Mammoth because I enjoy the people and love the mountain, so when they decided to make movies, where I wouldn’t have to travel as much and could shred around the Sierra’s, I was very happy. I’m very thankful for the opportunity to work with Mammoth.
Do you ever see yourself leaving Mammoth, or is it going to be the home of the little Gabe Taylor prodigies?
I hope to be able to stay in Mammoth forever and can’t see myself living anywhere else.
You are also quite the Golfer. Seems to be a popular thing among the older shredders (haha). Is that because you guys are too beat up to do anything else?
Harsh one Pat. Fishing is also pretty popular now among the more mature shredders as well. I have no idea why I like golf so much but it’s pretty addictive, and it doesn’t hurt that it’s easier on the body.
What else does a guy like you do for fun?
I love to surf and go on surf trips with my lady. Mexico, Indo, Central America……wherever. We also like going to amusement parks. A few years back we went to Orlando and hit up like five of em over the course of a week. Pretty fun.
Is snowboarding still your fun time or has it become work?
Fun time for sure. There are definitely those days that work needs to get done, and there can be some stress involved but I always try to make it fun in some way. I love November and December when I can free shred a bunch with my friends, pretty much my favorite time of the season.
What about a little personal info… You got a girlfriend or a little somethin’, somethin’?
I have a wife, her name is Amanda. She’s fucking amazing.
And one last message to all the Gabe Taylor fans out there…
Thanks for the support and have a good season. Preferably on a new Artec snowboard!

henry macias: Hi my name is Henry and I\'m about to turn 21. I\'ll start by saying I\'m not asking for anything I\'m just saying so maybe u can tell someone higher up . So I have a m3 hard core and m3 leather bindings . My binding got all f\'d up this year after one season of riding ( I had a messed shoulder year before and could not ride ) I tried to find m3snow.com but rosenthal had shut it down. Its kinda messed up because I don\'t have cash to buy new ones after manufactur defects messed these up. It is dope that you guys are bringing a great new product to the market instead of Burton haha. But rosenthal should still think of us small guys who are piss broke and just want to ride. Well thanks for your time if u read this and hope artec thrives have a great day and bitchin winter Henry
