Last Three Weeks

The last three weeks have been a whirlwind for sure. After the Zumiez event I drove out to Jackson for a week and a half. I was out in Jackson filming with the Grenade guys. Our crew was staying at Kyle Clancy’s house about 40 minutes south of town. Kyle has an amazing house, the best part being the ability to drive your snowmobile straight from the front yard into the backcountry. I didn’t use my car for the entire trip, mobiled to the store, bar, wherever. The downside of Jackson was the brutal cold. I know I complain about the cold a lot but this was out of hand. -32 degrees F two mornings in a row. Some days barely broke Zero. Filming and working in those temps can be hard, frozen toes and hands, core temp plummeting all the time, just surviving can take a toll. We got some shots though so it was worth it for sure.
After Jackson I drove to Reno where my lady drove up from Mammoth and hung out with me for the night. The gambling gods were generous as we came up a few hundred bucks playing 21. My flight left at 6am the next morning for Germany.
Blaise, Nima and myself were going out to Munich for the ISPO trade show. It’s like SIA in Vegas only it’s not, it’s in Europe. We were blown away at the booth the Elan guys had put together. Blaise and Richard had sent them some ideas and they killed it. It was the most professional looking booth I’ve ever been apart of. The interesting thing about those Euros is how hard they party. Beers were being cracked at noon and we’d be out until 4am. The daily wake up call would come at 7:30 and every day it seemed like some sort of sick joke. The Elan guys would be bright eyed ready to go like nothing happened the night before and we’d feel like utter death. Three hours was the most sleep I got the entire trip. The three of us would take turns napping at the booth to attempt to make up for the lack of sleep during the night. Nima left Blaise and I high and dry when it was his turn to watch though. We were totally passed out and one of the bigger European dealers came into the booth. Needless to say we weren’t looking too professional. We got our shit together and the guys actually thought our party stories were hilarious. Nima had a hard time going the distance on this trip. Every day he proceeded to get hammered at the booth and would end up passing out early. I was kind of jealous until he told his story of puking at the trade show. The three of us had an awesome time and it felt good to make a mark in Europe. Artec is going to be huge over there.
Upon arrival in the states I was greeted with a ton of fresh snow. We spent the week filming out at Sonora. I spent one day with Autumn Line and four with Grenade. It’s been hard trying to manage filming with two companies this year. In the end I’m sure I’ll be stoked but I feel a lot of pressure trying to make the right decisions on where to go. After a few days at home I’ll be off and about next week.
