Artec snowboards

I went snowboarding on the USC campus yesterday. Mammoth set up some jibs and there were a bunch of kids shredding in the middle of McCoy quad. That’s like the main center of the school I guess. It always amazes me what people are capable of. Creating snow and building a mini snow slope in the middle of Los Angeles in 85 degree heat took a lot of work and the kids seemed stoked. The strangest part was strapping in on top of the scaffolding and watching people walking to class and some of them would look up at us, and then just look away and keep on walking. It seems like watching someone snowboard in the middle of your school in LA would perk your interest enough to stop walking and watch, even if for a few minutes. I wonder what would have stopped those people? Circus acts? Petting Zoo? Casino games? Nudity? I guess you can’t please everyone.

Later we went to a party in Hollywood and saw a pretty sick Heavy Metal band. I saw a girl stage dive onto her face because everyone moved out of her way.

Pre-season is under way in Mammoth. There’s not much snow but it’s still fun to slide around. Everyone calls me and wants to know “how the snow is?”.  I always tell them it’s white and slippery. Sliding on the shittiest of snow can still be pretty darn fun. It’s good to see everyone come out of retirement and out on the hill. There’s not too many new styles out there. We need some Johnny’s and Gus’s out in Mammoth to spice things up. Those guys are awesome.
